So many great projects are out on Kickstarter right now, and I honestly don’t know what to do with myself. I am probably backing too many, but I just can’t pass them up. To capitalize on her success her publisher sends her to Hollywood to make a big blockbuster movie… But, things won’t go smoothly, as someone is out to kill Kitty and not even the readers will know who or why. Science Wide Open by Genius Games

download-5Science Wide Open¬†is a three book series that will highlight great women in science, all while teaching the basics of chemistry, biology, and physics. These will be beautifully illustrated children’s books, with 32 full-colour pages. Genius games has produced several science-themed games, such as Ion and Linkage, but this will be their second dive into the book publishing world. Ahead in the Clouds by Button Shy Games

In Ahead in the Clouds players are industrialists in the city of Empacta. Only the wealthy can remove their breathing masks and experience the fresh air. It is your job to pull dust from the air to create stone and condense water vapor to make hydrogen and oxygen. These resources are what makes breathable air possible. You must fulfill as many contracts as you can to ensure your business stays afloat, but there is another competing company. Collect water and dust to create resources, complete your contracts, but don’t forget that you must also have enough to pay the blimp. This is a great little resource conversion/management game. The main mechanics of the game include negotiation, hand management, and dice rolling.¬†Send your cronies out on jobs, gain allies, and buy businesses across the Big Apple, to ensure your famiglia¬†is number one. Dynamite Nurse by Japanime Games

Dynamite Nurse will be the English (also available in French) reprinting of Dynamite Nurse Returns, a sequel to a 1990 Japanese deck builder by Arclight. This is a highly thematic game where players are chief nurses working to get wounded adventurers back to good health. It is a deck builder, with elements of take that. Players need to be wary of other nurses trying to prevent them from curing their patients. Failing to help a patient could earn you a Kill Mark card. Get too many and you could become the Dynamite Nurse! Oh My Sheep! by Canvas Studio

In Oh My Sheep!, players will choose on of the three races (goblins, cyclops, and orcs) trying to fill their bellies with sheep. This is a strategic card game¬†with a dice rolling hunt mechanic. Each race has special attributes that will help them to catch the sheep in their own way. Players can use skill cards, set traps, or play special creatures from their race to ensure their successful hunts and the unsuccessful hunts of the other races. There are three main phases in a turn: Draw, move, and play. There is also a free Hunting phase, which can occur anytime during the active players turn. The story behind the game is an interesting one. The members of the band, The Decemberists, had been thinking up different concepts for the art on one of their albums. The idea they decided on was that there was an underground society, that would meet in strange locations to play a strange game. They had an artist friend create a game board for the photo shoot. Years went by and tabletop gaming had become a hobby for them on the road when touring. Remembering the mysterious game board they had made, they decided to find a way to turn it into a real game. Seeking the help of Keith Baker to make it a reality. ILLIMAT is a flexible card game, where players will harvest cards from the fields in the various seasons. Players will encounter luminary cards that will change the way play works throughout the game, as well as hazards in the fields.
